Meet The Committee

Mrs Esther Ward

I have been involved with The Gateshead Older People's Assembly since the first steering group for The Gateshead Forum for Older People was set up in 1999, when I was elected Secretary.

I have been involved with voluntary organisations since 1988 when I started up a group for people who had arthritis and went on to help them form The Gateshead Carers Association in 1998.

I was also the Chair of Gateshead Crossroads from 1995 until 2006 when I retired to spend more of my time developing The Gateshead Forum for Older People into The Assembly.

Mr William R Gregory

I have been associated with voluntary groups working for older members of the community since my retirement from educational service in 1980.

The formation of The Forum For Older People provided me with the opportunity to serve 4 years ( the maximum permitted by it's constitution) as it's Chair. Whilst in place I helped in establishing a 'Strategy For Older People', through a research project in which we listened to the 'Voice' of older people of Gateshead.

Sir Bernard Tomlinson

Mrs Pat Howes

I was elected as a Committee Member after our Annual General Meeting in November 2006 and have been a member of The Forum (now The Gateshead Older People's Assembly) since 2001.

As a former Warden for Anchor Homes I am keen to encourage older people to join us and share their views.

Miss Vicky Parsons

Co-opted Committee Member

Ms Dianne Graham

I am employed as a Development Officer for older peoples services at Gateshead Council.

I have been a co-opted member of The Assembly's Management Committee since it was first formed.

In 2006, I was seconded to what was then, The Gateshead Forum for Older People for 2 days a week from January to September to help with its development.

I have worked in local government for 25 years doing various jobs in social care. Previously to that, I worked for Age Concern, Newcastle. I am 51 years old and now that my son is away at University, I have more time to enjoy activities like walking, cycling, badminton and getting about on my Vespa scooter!
